Youth Group:
It's about fun, friendship and community service for 6th graders and up! Fun can mean attending a play, hiking in a park, enjoying a movie or tubing on the Delaware River. We also have discussions about topics such as "bullies," friendship, and social causes such as disaster relief. To serve the community we’ve held fund-raisers to help victims of disasters. Several members have participated in the CROP Walk. We had a “washing of the toys” event through which toys were cleaned up and donated to needy kids in Paterson and the Bronx.
Each year, youth group members and the adults inv
olved --moms Judy, Amanda and Diane and Pastor Fran -- decide what activities they’d like to do. We were recently visited by Denise Marcos of Habitat for Humanity, pictured below, who spoke to us about organizing youth volunteer efforts to help build homes for low-income families. In 2010 we’re planning outings such as ice-skating and swimming parties.
The Youth Group is open to 6th graders and up, and we welcome friends and guests regardless of religious affiliation. Meetings take place on the first and third Sunday of every month from 5-7 pm in our school building.
